MMR Continues to Show Enduring Support for Art Education

Belleville, Ill. (April 29, 2025) – Art on the Square’s High School Sculpture in the City Program, sponsored by Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., is collaborating with paper and fabric artist Amy Koch from Eureka, Missouri, to create unique shadow box pieces for this year’s Art on the Square, in partnership with art students at Belleville Township East High School. This program has been supported by Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., since its inception in 2011, as it allows local high school students to work alongside a professional artist with the goal of creating pieces of art to help beautify our city.

MMR shareholders, Chad J. Richter and Allyson T. Schwab recently visited the Belleville East art students, art teachers, and artist Amy Koch to gain insights into this year’s artwork and learn more about the art students’ development. The creative artwork offers these students invaluable, real-world, hands-on experience and engages them completely in the full process from design to completion.

As the official sponsor of the program, MMR is proud to help create such a unique experience for local high school students. This partnership expands art education in the community by delivering a valuable, hands-on learning experience for high school students.

The artwork is set to be unveiled at the opening night of the annual Art on the Square Festival, on May 16th, in front of the St. Clair County Courthouse building. MMR is looking forward to attending the event. After the festival, the shadow boxes will be displayed at Belleville Township East High School for students, faculty, and the community to enjoy.
