Belleville, Ill. (April 29, 2024) – The law firm of Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. (MM&R), is proud to announce that of counsel attorney William “Bill” D. Stiehl, Jr. has recently been appointed by the Illinois governor with the advice and consent of the Illinois Senate to serve on the Illinois State Police Merit Board.

The Illinois State Police Merit Board, comprised of seven members, is committed to upholding a just and unbiased merit process for the selection of state trooper candidates, as well as the promotion and discipline of State Police officers.

Bill is an of counsel attorney with Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., who serves clients in the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, commercial litigation, education law, and white-collar criminal defense. He brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role. His appointment is a testament to his outstanding reputation and commitment to serving the community with integrity and excellence.

In 2018, Bill was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve as Circuit Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois in St. Clair County. He was then appointed as an at-large circuit judge for the 20th Judicial Court of Illinois in St. Clair County from 2020 to 2022 by the Illinois Supreme Court.
