Law firm Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. has awarded three recent high school graduates with scholarships to help them pursue a career in the legal field. The members of the firm believe that law is a noble and challenging career that provides attorneys the opportunity to serve both our clients and society. Matthew Taylor Fritz II, Emma Lercher and Lyniya Pruitt have chosen to pursue this noble career by enrolling in programs across the country.

Matthew Taylor Fritz II

Matthew Taylor Fritz II, a graduate from O’Fallon Township High School, will be attending Purdue University this fall. Matthew’s aspirations to become a lawyer are coupled with his passion for engineering. Following his mechanical engineering studies, Matthew plans on receiving his Juris Doctorate in intellectual property and patent law. Matthew aims to use his knowledge to help improve machinery functions and protect new ideas in engineering.

Emma M. Lercher, a graduate from Belleville East Township High School, will be attending Saint Louis University this fall. Emma hopes to use her education to become a legal aid attorney. She decided to take this path because of her passion for equality and justice. Emma is the co-founder of the Metro East Democrats, where she was a writer and political strategist. Through Emma’s work, she hopes to make a difference in her community and help those in disadvantaged situations.

Lyniya T. Pruitt, a recent graduate from Cahokia High School, will be attending Lincoln University this fall. During her time at Cahokia High School, Lyniya was president of Interact Club, a community-based club geared toward giving back to the community. Participating in a wide array of clubs in high school, Lyniya has developed invaluable skills to help in the pursuit of becoming a civil rights attorney.

Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. is proud to support these three young professionals in their pursuance of higher education and legal degrees. This scholarship program selects three eager students each year to encourage them to go after their dreams of going to law school. “We are extremely impressed by the academic and community accomplishments of these remarkable young people,” said Richter. “We applaud their ambition and determination to become a part of the legal society and wish them the best as they begin their college careers.”  MM&R’s scholarships are available to high school seniors in St. Clair, Madison and Washington Counties each spring.
