Belleville, IL, April 20, 2011. Kevin Stine, shareholder of Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., in Belleville, Ill., has been selected by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on a special committee formed to study and formulate proposals to help those facing the loss of their homes and improve the judicial process in mortgage foreclosures throughout Illinois.

Stine, who focuses his practice in banking law, bankruptcy, real estate law, commercial litigation and civil litigation, joins the committee with 13 other people throughout the state who have been on the front lines in dealing with the housing crisis and how it affects home-owning families as well as the lenders. The committee consists of attorneys, judges, bankers, a law professor and an official from the Illinois Attorney General’s office.

The Supreme Court’s broad charge to the committee is to devise a structure to ensure fair and efficient foreclosure proceedings and recommend to the court mortgage foreclosure rules to be implemented statewide.

Stine says, “I feel privileged to be a part of a committee charged with such an important task. I commend the Illinois Supreme Court for taking steps to streamline the process and make all proceedings as fair as possible.”

Stine has almost 25 years’ experience handling litigation matters for financial institutions and commercial enterprises. He has represented clients in cases involving breach of contracts, bank collections, foreclosures, real estate disputes, probate litigation, bankruptcy and corporate matters.
