[Belleville, IL, July 15, 2025] – The law firm of Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., has awarded a recent high school graduate, Blake Schaper of Alton, Illinois, a $3,000 scholarship to help him pursue a career in the legal field. The members of the firm believe that law is a noble and challenging career that provides attorneys with the opportunity to serve both our clients and society. Blake Schaper has chosen to pursue this noble career by enrolling in college.
Blake Schaper, a graduate from Fortitude Homeschool, will be attending Hillsdale College in Fall 2025. Blake’s interest in the legal field sparked from his enjoyment of studying Business Law. He was intrigued by the subjects of imminent domain, common law, and copyright protections. He aspires to become an effective and powerful communicator and has started to develop his skills of speech and debate. He dreams of one day becoming a selfless statesman. Blake shared “I believe the legal profession will enable me to help others. Lawyers have the power to protect the innocent and bring justice for victims of the guilty.”

MM&R’s Law Career Scholarship is available to high school seniors each Spring.
