Illinois parents of these children can take a 25% tax credit on qualified educational expenses over $250. Parents are only eligible for up to $750, regardless of the number of students the parents have.

Qualified educational expenses include tuition, book, and lab fees in excess of $250 paid to the school.

If you have a child in Kindergarten through 12th grade, you probably qualify for this credit. Don’t forget to talk to your return preparer about claiming this credit.
