Louis B. Laugges is an associate attorney at MM&R, where he focuses his practice on civil litigation and personal injury. Drawing on experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Louis provides practical, well-rounded legal counsel to individuals, businesses, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations navigating a wide variety of legal matters. Before attending law school, Louis worked as a paralegal and legal secretary, gaining firsthand experience in family law, criminal law, and insurance matters. After earning his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, he began his legal career with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in Springfield. While serving with the Attorney General’s Office, Louis represented several Illinois state agencies in civil litigation before Illinois state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, and the Illinois Court of Claims. His work included representing the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Illinois Department of Corrections, and Illinois State University in workers’ compensation matters. Since relocating to the St. Louis metropolitan area, Louis has expanded his practice to include employment law, municipal law, business law, insurance defense, nonprofit representation, and personal injury litigation. His broad legal background and experience on both sides of civil litigation allow him to develop practical, effective strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
